UEFA president calls for salary caps for European football

In his opinion, otherwise all the trophies will be won by a narrow group of rich clubs.

In the future, European football will need to introduce a salary cap, said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.

If salaries continue to rise, he says, it will reduce competition and the value of the competition.

"If five teams always win, then it will no longer make sense," Ceferin is quoted by RIA Novosti with reference to his interview with the Men In Blazers video channel.

According to the functionary, the decision on the salary cap is supported by clubs of different levels and different legal forms - both public and private.

"I hope this will happen as soon as possible," Čeferin concluded.
