UFC champion Jamal Hill relinquishes title
This is the second refusal in the division.
New UFC light heavyweight champion Jamal Hill has announced that he has vacated his belt.
The American fighter explained his decision by a serious injury to the Achilles tendon, which will take a long time to heal.
“My injury is more than serious. It requires surgery and a long recovery. Like Jiri Prochazka, I will not keep the belt. I want the division to keep moving forward,” said the athlete.
Hill won the title earlier in the year by defeating Brazilian Glover Teixeira. As for the aforementioned Prochazka, the Czech had also previously waived the belt due to injury.
At the same time, Jiri continues to be the first number in the light heavyweight division. Russian Magomed Ankalaev takes the second place.
