France may soon bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympics, according to European insiders.
Two regions jointly want to host the largest sports tournament - Auvergne - Rhone - Alpes and Provence - Alpes - Cote d'Azur.
At the same time, the French government allegedly unanimously supported this initiative at a special meeting, promising assistance and support when applying.
For France, if the Winter Games are accepted, this will be the second Olympics in the last six years. In 2024, the summer tournament will be held in Paris.
As for the 2030 Winter Games, the IOC will consider the applications of potential hosts, presumably in December, and the capital of the 2030 Winter Olympics will be named at the 142nd IOC session in Paris in July 2024.
