Euro 2024: Group E

On June 17, the matches of Group E at Euro 2024 will begin. It will feature the national teams of Belgium, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine.

The Belgium national team

Best achievement

The Belgians have not been successful at the European Championship. Their best achievement is second place back in 1980.

Qualification

The Belgian national team won the qualifying group F, scoring 20 points in eight matches. The Belgians’ two biggest victories were over the national teams of Estonia and Azerbaijan – 5:0.

Players

Romelu Lukaku became the national team’s top scorer in the qualification – he scored 14 goals. In the match against Azerbaijan, he scored four. Russian fans know the name of Axel Witsel. He played for St. Petersburg’s Zenit for four years. Another star of the Belgians is the team captain Kevin de Bruyne, who plays for Manchester City. Slovakia national team

Best achievement

The Czechoslovakia national team was the European champion in 1976, but the highest achievement of the Slovaks is the 1/8 finals in 2016. The current tournament is their third in history.

Qualification

The Slovakian national team got to the Euro thanks to the second place in the qualifying group. In the qualifying stage, the Slovaks scored 22 points, losing the lead to Portugal, which did not suffer a single defeat.

Players

A player born in 2005, forward Leo Sauer from Feyenoord, came to the championship as part of the Slovakian national team. The footballer played only one match for the national team - on March 26, he played in a friendly match against Norway. And the main star of the team is PSG defender Milan Skriniar. He was recognized as the best player of Slovakia four times in a row - from 2019 to 2022.

Romanian national team

Best achievement

In 2000, Romania reached the quarterfinals of the Euro – this is the best result in the history of the national team.

Qualification

The Romanian national team won the qualifying group I, having scored 22 points in 10 games. The Knights of the Carpathians achieved their biggest victory in the qualification over Andorra – 4:0.

Players

The Romanian national team includes players from exotic championships. Thus, Denis Alibek received a call-up to the Euro from Qatar. The team captain Nicolae Stanciu and defender Andrei Burca play in Saudi Arabia. Before moving to Damac, Stanciu played in China and the Czech Republic.

The Ukrainian national team

Best achievement

The Ukrainians are going to Euro for only the fourth time. They performed best at the last continental championship, reaching the quarterfinals.

Qualification

The Ukrainians qualified for the championship through the playoffs of the League of Nations. They passed path B, leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel and Iceland behind.

Players

The players of the Ukrainian national team play for the leading clubs of the world. Andriy Lunin is not the main, but still the goalkeeper of Real Madrid, he recently won the Champions League with the Madrid club. Oleksandr Zinchenko plays for London's Arsenal. For him, the current European Championship is already the third in his career. The team's head coach Serhiy Rebrov played for Kazan's Rubin, where he ended his playing career.
