Dubai launches new system: no need for a passport to identify travelers
The new biometric system will make travel easier and more enjoyable.
The General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) is introducing a new system that eliminates the need for a passport or other boarding pass at Dubai airports.
The new biometric system uses combined facial and iris recognition, which is considered sufficient means of identifying an individual, while still providing a safe and efficient way for passengers to fly. The new system applies to all expatriates, visitors and Emirati citizens whose details have been registered in the database since 2019.
In addition, all biometric information is stored in the GDRFA system, which is used for future travel so that travelers don't have to stop or go through nasty and long lines to check their travel documents.
Dubai is a leader in aviation technology and the new biometric system is just one of many measures the city has taken to make travel easier and more convenient for air travelers. The goal of this new system is to offer a ride that allows you to relax and enjoy your flight at the same time.
