Japan to introduce visa-free regime for Qatari citizens in April
The Japanese government has introduced a visa waiver for Qatari citizens, allowing the latter to enjoy a visa-free regime for stays of up to 30 consecutive days.
The new measure will come into effect on April 2, 2023, and will benefit Qatari citizens who will no longer have to go through the hassle of the visa process, according to US-based Fragomen Corporation.
“It is expected that this entry exemption will only apply to tourists, while Qatari citizens visiting Japan for other purposes such as business and work will still need to apply for an appropriate provisional visa,” the publication said, noting also that the government of Qatar has not published similar rules for Japanese citizens.
The move will demonstrate both countries' commitment to strengthening their diplomatic ties, which is also expected to boost tourism from Gulf countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier it became known that the Singapore authorities announced the cancellation of all anti-COVID entry measures. The cancellation applies to all travelers, regardless of their country of origin.
